Program Presenter

Kate Graham, LMHC, SEP

Hi there! I’m Kate.

Yoga therapist, licensed mental health clinician, and founder of the Soulful Yoga Therapy Methodology and Framework for Emotional Health and Healing (oh, and...Schitt’s Creek superfan).

I passionately believe in a full-body approach to health and wellness. For the last decade, I’ve explored the intersection of mind and body therapies and found that the 'top down' approach of psychotherapy combined with the 'bottom up' approach of yoga results in the most effective, lasting and meaningful transformation in the treatment of anxiety, depression and trauma.

Back when I began this work, I’d intuited this powerful relationship existed between what I experienced in my yoga practice, and what I knew from my clinical work as a mental health counselor.

But here’s the moment I actually understood (or at least got a mighty good glimpse of)  the magnitude of this impact:

I was working at the Trauma Center in Brookline with Bessel van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps the Score), teaching women's yoga in one of the first yoga-for-trauma programs in the field, and completing a research project on the outcomes.

I remember thinking, ‘OMG — this is gonna change my life.’ I could clearly see how clients I’d been working with long-term began to experience real transformation in their life and overcome trauma.

I’ve since been grandfathered as a certified yoga therapist (there were no schools for becoming a yoga therapist when I started sharing this work).

But what really lights me up about this field is the honor of sitting with someone and seeing their nervous system, their emotional capacity, their self-support and self-care change in the most radical way. It’s a true gift to witness.

The other part of my work that I get to be really pumped about? Seeing my Yoga Therapy Training clients get to ‘the other side’.

It’s deeply exciting to watch their vision for their work in the embodied-therapy field manifest.

They’re the trailblazers, the modern leaders who are shifting the medical model to include the body.

They’re teaching these skills across hugely varied organizations and practices.

They’re making transformative changes from within.

This deeply impactful work is waiting for you too.

It’s why I’ve created the very program that will take you from where you are now in your professional career, to where you truly want to be.

Emily Natale, Licensed Mental Health Clinician

Kate's program was one of the best trainings I've ever taken. The program is thoughtfully designed. It's integrative, experiential, challenging, and builds one's knowledge in a gentle way. She also brings in other domain experts, which I really appreciated. I walked away from her training feeling more confident in myself. I learned tactical skills and interventions that I can implement immediately with my clients, and other ways to support my own health and healing. Kate is also a gem of a human! She is very kind, welcoming and supportive. She was able to attract and facilitate a community that I really enjoyed being a part of. It was such a wonderful experience!

Joanna Barrett, Masters Level Clinician & Yoga Teacher

Taking part in Kate Graham's program was one of the best decisions I've made to develop my calling as a therapist. Kate is a knowledgeable and capable teacher in the areas of trauma-informed yoga and yoga for mood disorders. She also has an exceptional ability to connect with her students on a deeply personal level.

In addition to providing us with the benefit of her crystal-clear communication skills, Kate created a safe space for us to learn. She inspired me to think in new ways, ask questions, and teach authentic sequences. Each session was filled with experiential learning, in-depth discussions, and the study of yogic philosophy and wisdom. All of these were indispensable to the learning process and to my resulting growth as a therapist.

I am so grateful to Kate for creating this unique offering. The Yoga for Emotional Health and Healing Program provided me with valuable tools, feedback, and support. Above all, I received encouragement to follow my heart’s work. All of this has prepared me to carry my personal vision of yoga therapy out into the world.

My questions are answered and I’m ready to join!

I’m so excited to welcome you into your yoga therapy training!
